Blessings on the Little Children

Sweet and fresh from Heaven above,
May their days be filled with beauty,
May they grow in truth and love.
Lord, bless this tiny infant
Who will make the world so fair -

Keep this precious little life
Forever in Your care.

On Sunday, we presented our little angel for Baptism at our Parish Church.

We were so proud of her as she was on her best behavior before, during, and after the service. Despite a somewhat chaotic scene (with kids running around and wannabe photographers jostling for position), Lexie kept her cool even when the Priest doused her with holy water.

See:

(A special "Thank you" to 10 y.o. Kaemon for his impromptu videography!)

Looking serene mid-service:

We deliberately kept the party small with just immediate family and Jen & Bruce and their boys. We were so happy to have Kuya and Jen as Lexie's Ninong and Ninang, respectively.

Here's Kuya, as Ninong, lighting the Baptismal candle:

What's a celebration without the proud grandparents?!

Look who else got gussied up in his barong:

A group shot of the Celebrants:

Check out Lexie's Baptismal gown. It looks like a mini Barong. Dad had bought it in the Philippines when he went there last June. Isn't it gorgeous?!

To celebrate this milestone, we had a dinner reception at Maggiano's, topped off with a mango cake from Red Ribbon. Yuuummy.

A couple of things to note, if you look at Lexie's wrist in the first photo above, she is wearing a bracelet given to her by Mom H. Mom H wore this bracelet herself when she was an infant. So it was really touching that such a family heirloom could be passed down on such a momentous event.

Also, you can't see it in these photos, but I am wearing a necklace with a Cross that Tita Emer had given Lexie before Tita Emer passed last year. She asked me to give it to Lexie so that "she'd have something to remember me by." Lexie's too young right now to wear such a priceless gift, but I chose to wear it on her behalf so that even though Tita Emer couldn't be with us physically, she is close to our hearts.
