Hear Us Roar

Saturday, Steve and I trekked down to Dav!d Beckham's L.A. "home." (Obviously, I jest about the Home Depot Center being his home because everyone knows that Beckham deigns to kick a Galaxy soccer ball once every other month. Hardly enough to be home, eh?)

All joking aside, we went to see Coldplay in concert in celebration of Steve's birthday. Yes, his birthday was in March; but the concert wasn't until July; so he had to wait a while to celebrate. Not really, but you know what I mean.

For those of you who don't know, Coldplay is "our" group. They are one amongst a handful of groups whom we both really really like and whose music we both enjoy. Soon after we got engaged in August 2005, we went to see them play in Chula Vista- where we almost got lost across the border in Mexico. Also, their songs played prominently in our wedding reception, as "Clocks" was the introductory music for our parents at the reception, "Kingdom Come" was our First Dance song, and "Fix You" was the last song played for the night. Oh, and 'The Scientist" is one of my favorite songs.

Overall, the concert was fabulous. We were not disappointed. The venue wasn't the best. Neither was the parking situation ($20 to park 1/2mile away). Moreover, the group put on an entertaining 2 hour show. They played every one of our favorite songs, with the exception of "Kingdom Come." And they didn't change the melody to any of them, thank goodness. That's my biggest pet peeve during concerts- when the performer changes the melody to the point where the song becomes almost unrecognizable.

Oh, and they paid tribute to Michael Jackson with a country-sounding "Billie Jean." I have a clip from it, but it wasn't the highlight of the show. And let's face it, no one does "Billie Jean" as well as Michael did.

Here is our view of the stage from our floor seats.

Fans gearing up for the intro. Starting not to see the stage that well. Drat! These people are too tall:(

Hitting the stage. Thank goodness for big screens!

"Yellow." Funny, they used yellow balloons floating above the crowd as their prop for "Yellow" back in their '05 concerts, as well.

The ubiquitous "Clocks" intro

The conclusion of the regular playset. On to the Encore.

Waiting for the Encore

Encore... "The Scientist" - My fave amongst Coldplay faves. At this point, we were near the exit, as we wanted to beat the mad crowd.
